I love the venue i have chosen for my wedding the owner is very accomodating and it's a bargain only problem is that i need to hire a marquee to fit my guests and that's not cheap and music will have to be turned down in the marquee at around 11pm, don't know what to do!

I've got a marquee for my wedding. For 130 people it comes in about 3.5k to give you a pic of what kind of prices. However, if its a venue where they regularly hire marquees they should be able to get you a decent price. Why do they need you to turn the music down?0

it's in a small victorian house but beyond it it's quite residential, they generally do small low key weddings inside the house but i just fell in love with the place, we are using the house for the casino and i was thinking when the music comes down in the marquee of having a karioke inside, guests should be well oiled by then and elderly relatives and children who have been there all day will start to go home by then so it's just a case of keeping it going as the guests start to trail away.0

We are getting married in a residential area, and every venue we have looked at has said that music needs to be turned down at 11pm. It shouldn't be too much of a problem, as we can still have music and dancing, we'll just move onto the slow dance songs for the last hour.

when you put it like that it's not to bad, thank you just need to try and keep marquee around £2500.
zcrat41 - do you think i need to have enough seating in marquee for all the evening guests as we have the house too and grounds (weather permitting) from experiance when the evening starts people tend to wander about and I wouldn't want to spend all that extra money to have the marquee look empty becuase people are wondering around doing their own thing?0 -

Most people stand up, apparently. We're having around 1 "official" seat (some people may sit on the arms, etc) for every 3 people in our marquee - our event manager assures us that will be plenty - fingers crossed.0 -
oh great i can't wait to have a proper sit down with the marquee company, they have said they are really busy with the bank hol weekend coming up so i can see them beggining of June but my venue are very accomodating and the happy to wait for me, the owner of the marquee company's daughter is having a marquee in the same place for her wedding so it be done and they will be able to help with all the logistics.0

We're having one seat for everyone older than us that we're inviting. I've categorised everyone into the following groups: People around my Granddads age, those around our parents age), our age group, and kids. This has worked out at 20 chairs for 52 of us, so slightly more than the 1:3 ratio Idiophreak said. Dunno if it helps but I'm getting basic white plastic garden chairs for £1.50 each, plus £10 delivery and collection.0

i've had a quote back for 100 guests seated and we're inviting about 70 to the day and 130 (roughly)to the night. i'm wondering if this is too many seats as i don't want the marquee to appear empty especialy if the weather is good because i think people might end up wondering around the house and gardens.0

Have you thought about hiring toilets too? This is waht usually adds a great whack onto the budget.
PS I think 100 seats is too many for 130 guests, is that what you meant?0 -
toilets are fine as we're attaching the marquee to this venue...
so we'll be using the bar and toilets in there but it's too small for all the guests we wnat on it's own hence the marquee, i'm starting to think a 60x20 ft will do it now. a 60 x 20 wil sit 60 and has a dance floor so we could plonk and extra table in for the day and take it out for dance floor in the night possibly.0
