Faulty Shure Earphone

Hi all,

I purchased a pair of Shure se110 Earphones back in spetember 2008 which later failed. It was covered by the Shure 2 year warranty which replaced them with the then equivilent model of the Shure se115's. They have recently also failed. Now as they are out fo the 2 year warranty all Shure are able to do is offer me a paid exchange where i have to pay ~£65 and an equivilent replacemnet will be provided. Now what frustrates me is that i wouldnt normally pursue this, howvever i have previously had anothe rpair of Shure E4c's which failed just outside warranty and another pair fo Shure se110 which failed, however i never tried to get a replacement from them, however they are also out of warrranty now.

Now i am largely aware of my rights under the sales of goods act, however i am not sure what course of action i should be taking now. Should i just wrtie a letter to them firstly rerencing the sales of goods act and stating my statutary rights asking for a suitable replacement. I should also point out that i am always fully prepared and happy to go to the small claims court if it comes to it as i have done so numerous times before. Thanks

I'm not entirely sure what you are saying here, this is my intepretation so correct me where necessary.

In Sept 2008 you bought headphones, they failed within the warranty period and they replaced them - as they should.

The replacements then failed but outside of the original 2 year warranty - so no automatic rights to another replacement based on the warranty alone.

The retailer/manufacturer then offers to provide you with the contemporary version of the headphones at a cost to you of £65. You haven't stated what you paid for the item in the first place and if £65 is around this price or if it is less than this price.

I'm not entirely sure where the problem lies at this point...

I'm not clear who you purchased the things from.

Did you buy direct from Shure?

As you already know, any SOGA rights are with/against whoever sold the thing to you.

Shure generally have excellent customer service...But the fact that they are out of warranty...IE. You've had a set of earphones for over 2 years, you can't really expect them to give you a replacement as you've used them for a 'reasonable' period of time anyway.

Still, just send a nicely worded polite letter to Shure and see what they say. My experiences with them have been excellent
