Can I slow roast lamb steaks?

seeing as there is only two of us eating in the house now it made no sense to buy a big expensive cut of lamb so we decided to give lamb steaks a try, as daft as it sounds were not keen on grilling/frying them so I was wondering if anyone knows if it was possible to slow roast them as I normally would a larger cut, obviously times and temperatures would differ but I can work that out I just wanted to know if it would work? We both prefer it done that way you see! Any ideas!?

    I suppose you could, but it would ruin them, slow roasting only works well with meat that has plenty of fat in it to keep it moist as it cooks .....steaks cooked that way will be dried out completely.

    Cook them quickly in a hot pan .... 2 or 3 minutes each side should be plenty.

    i agree with tony- they are too small a piece of meat to slow cook.
    grilling or frying is the way.

    thanks for your help! I think it would be better to give the grilling/frying a go rather than end up with it all chewy!

    You could braise them briefly in a gravy type sauce? Seal both sides quickly, cover with chosen sauce/gravy and cover, cook in oven for half an hour. Might work and at least they wouldn't dry out. I could see that working with a minty gravy.

    i've done pork chops/steaks in my slow cooker before so i'd say lamb would work aswell

    I've done lamb steaks in my slow cooker & they were beautifully tender.

    I made a sauce/gravy of a lamb oxo, a glass of red wine, garlic, mint, pepper & covered the steaks with it.
    Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.

    If you don't want loads of meat, get a lamb shoulder & slow roast that, its beautiful.

    I agree a shoulder of lamb is beautiful but last time I priced it up in Sainsbobs it was over £12.Delicious if you use the rest of the left over meat to make a proper shepards pie .

    I would say that if you sliced up some carrots and onion and laid the lamb steaks on a thin bed of this and just covered with gravy it should be beautiful.It will cook in its own juices and be quite tender.

    I buy lamb steaks, cube them and roast for about 20-30 minutes on gas 5. They don't need slow roasting. If you put foil round them I suppose you could. Not for long though.
