Give £164 to charity for just £83 cost!!
Do you give to Charities either regularly or on a one-off occassion?
Are you a member of the National Trust? Historic Scotland or others?
Then read on and find out how you can save yourself money at the same time as helping charity. For example, two years family membership for the National Trust will cost £164 but by doing the following it will cost you just £108 and if you are a higher rate tax payer then the cost falls to just £83 - a saving of £81 – that’s a 100% return on your money!
I have been a member of the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) for many years now. Its aim is to promote wider awareness for individuals to give to charity and it operates the Give As You Earn scheme for over 80,000 people. You open a bank account with them and pay in by standing order something like £10 per month. They will reclaim basic rate tax for you from the government and add it to the account. You get a cheque book, quarterly bank statements and can then make payments using your cheque book to any charity of your choice, a church, school PTA or hospital etc. The Inland Revenue have agreed to allow payments to be made in return for annual membership for charities that have land or buildings as their main priority. This means that you can pay a cheque to the National Trust for you annual membership. There are many others who would also qualify and you can check with CAF to see which ones do. You can set up standing orders to your favourite charity if you wish. You can cancel your payments into it at anytime and it can never go overdrawn since CAF will only pay out what you have in your account.
Now the exciting part - as a long standing member, I have been offered the chance to introduce friends, relatives etc and should they go on to open an account, then they will get a £25 bonus payment into their charity account. This they can give to any charity they wish. It could be used to partly pay for your annual National Trust membership! In addition, since they reclaim tax on your contributions and add it to your account then you also save extra cash that way. If you are a 40% tax payer then you can also reclaim the difference in your tax return!
To obtain the £25 bonus, however, you must be recommended. All I need is your name and address and I can ask them to send you an information pack which will have more info and an application form. Once you open an account and make your first payment, they will then credit your account with £25.
If you want more information or have questions then please get in touch and I will send you an info sheet I have or you can visit https://www.cafonline.org and find out more there but do remember that you won't get the £25 bonus if you join them direct.
As a keen supporter of many charities I have raised money for various causes through the years, the last was by running the Bath Half Marathon in March and raising £5,000 with the help of other runners for spinal injury research. I'm an accountant which is why I like this offer - it saves you money but at the same time, encourages giving to charity. CAF have this cash set aside to give as bonuses so it makes sense to claim it and give it to charity!!
Please get in touch with me if you would like any further information.
