hazard lights flashing randomly :-(

Morning everyone,

I've got a P reg Ford Fiesta (1.3) and twice in the last few days my neighbours have knocked on the door to tell me the hazard lights are flashing on it.

Any ideas what could be causing this, as the hazard button hasnt actually been pressed!?!

The car has central locking as well, so the lights flash once when the car is locked or opened

thanks guys x

could it be to do with the alarm (if it's got one, of course..)?

Alarm..... And im going to guess at the alarms internal battery failing.

Does it happen after a particular time of the vehicle being parked/unused?

^^ I ask because the alarms internal battery is normally charged when you use the car, so left for a period of time it can loose charge, the alarm see's this as a threat and sets about warning you.

On my 306 the alarm would sound and flash the hazards, but when it was left for a few days without use the alarm would suddenly go off without the hazards. It was a pain because nobody could figure out it was my car.
    Similar but opposite maybe?

The alarm sounder is probably broken - alarm is activating but only the hazards are visible because the sounder has had it.

(assuming it's the type of alarm with a seperate sounder rather than using the horn)
