Have You Contacted The Seller Before leaving Feedback?

What is the point of Ebay asking this question and the buyer clicking on YES, when they have not done so!!!!!
If customers do do so then we as sellers must come up with a master plan to solve the problem. Most problems can be sorted if the buyer contacts us. If they do not then they lie in ignorance that a solution could have been found for the problem.
Are buyers breaking the law by saying they have contacted the seller when they have not?
What can Ebay do about this? (nothing is the answer to this, although last year I was told by an Ebay rep that they where going to stop people leaving feedback if they had not contacted the seller 1st).
There is after they have left neutral or negative feedback a chance to contact ebay about any problem. Do they do this, no they do not.
So Ebay what is the point of these, if customers just ignore and lie about contacting the buyer.
I bet there are loads of sellers out there with similar beefs about buyers who do not contact before leaving feedback.

It didn't say that when I left a neutral (first ever) recently.
It did say "please contact the seller before you leave this feedback", but didn't insist on it.
(I had contacted them, several times, all been ignored)
So certainly no lieing involved, maybe they just don't rate the seller, and think they'll get even more hassle if they do.0 -
Don't be silly. Feedback and DSRs are a buyers opinion of a transaction. A lot of problems will not change that buyers opinion by contacting the seller. Poor descriptions dodgy packaging slow dispatch times do not change by contacting the seller. Most problems can be sorted if the buyer contacts us. Sellers (and I am one) are better off concentrating on their service before the sale rather than ranting after the fact.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Do you not find though if a customer contacts you before leaving feedback there is something you can do to solve the problem? This what I am really getting at.Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0 -
I sold a trailer last year and on the listing I put, in big red letters "Please come and view prior to bidding..."
Anyway, the winner didn't - they just bid and won... Came to collect it and it wasnt what they wanted. So I said thats fine, and asked if I could cancel the transaction and they agreed. Did 2nd chance offer and the 2nd buyer was made up!
So I was then shocked a few weeks later when the original winner left a neutral feedback!
The whole "Have you contacted your seller before leaving this feedback" message that pops up on eBay is just silly. They should just remove it as it serves no purpose. Or maybe eBay should introduce a feature that lets people leave neutral/negative feedback but it wont display them on the sellers profile for 5 days, giving the seller time to address the situation?0 -
But if they thought the trailer wasn't what they wanted, they must have thought it was different to the description, so if they left neutral based on that, that's their opinion, and not much you can do to change their minds though..0

I know that, but they agreed to cancel the transaction.
I knew they'd be unhappy as they turned up in a beige Fusion diesel and were both dressed like Paddington Bear...0 -
All sorted now, buyer is changing feedback to a positive after giving them an explanation of what they had actually bought. They had miss read the advert.Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0

Do you know how they are managing to change it? Do they contact ebay and ask them?
Sellers have a very limited number of feedback revision requests they can send out to buyers. Buyer gets the revision request and can use that to change the feedback left, or they can decline to change it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
