today is our last ever day of uni, its been planned for sometime that after the exam, the class and lecturers are going out for a meal and meant to be goiing out in town after.
obviously its a pretty sad day for us but wanted to spend it together - hence my problem.
i have no money, the meal is £10 which is how much i have left but obviously wont be able to buy drinks etc.
evryone is going to the uni bar beforehand which im going to hve to bare. i figured i can get away with the meal and just drink water but then i dont know.
i love them to bits and would love to be with them especially as we rarely all go out as most have kids etc so have other commitments, but they have made special arrangements for today.
im tempted to just go home aftwr the meal as i really dont no if i can sit in a pub while everyone else drinks but then again if i come home i think ill be really upset that im not there.
ive already had to tell them my situation as i couldnt contribute to the lecturers presents. but i feel sick knowing either way i wont be enjoying myself

If you only have £10 and you blow it on one meal, what do you do tomorrow? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

if its been planned for some time, then you knew you needed money for it, obviously it did not mean that much to put by a few pounds a week
Personally i would not embarrass myself to go and sit in the pub with them and not have a drink(at least one in my hand), but you know that people will feel guilty and buy you one, Its your choice how you play it.0 -

If you have the money, can you not borrow it from a friend for a few days?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Take your textbooks to the book shop and flog them?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Sweetie, if you bare all in the bar I expect you'll have no end of offers to buy you drinks!
Tbh, I am saddened that you've reached this point in your education and still don't know the difference between 'to bare' and 'to bear'.
If you have funds stuck in cyberspace, can't you ask one of your mates for a small very short-term loan?0 -
You could skip the meal and then meet them for drinks afterwards?0

I would explain the situation to your friends and if you feel embarrassed about asking for a loan or don't want to then simply meet them for the meal and don't have a drink.
You are all students and I am sure they will understand what it is like to be skint. We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
Skip the meal and go for drinks! Many a bonding happens over drinks lol
No-one will remeber the meal in months years to come, it will all be about the drinks and evening after!
xx

I can really sympathize with your position. Whatever you do, you are going to lose out. You don't want to look mean, but if you turn up for the drinks with no money someone will feel obliged to buy you one, as the landlord of the pub will not take kindly to someone sitting in the pub without buying at least one drink. This could be awkward. Even if you have £10 for the meal, presumably there will be a tip to chip-in to, and if you are the only one who does not tip you will feel awkward.
DramaQueen's advice above to by-pass the meal is probably good advice...perhaps an auntie has taken ill, but you will catch up later?
But as you are very hard-up at the moment, this £10 might be the difference between eating or not-eating in the days ahead when you could regret money spent foolishly on drink. Perhaps a migraine is coming on where you can't attend at all?
Good luck anyway - check down the settee for coins and watch out for loose change on the streets."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"
