Thanks for those Susi. Just needed to tell me the result of the last two scans, so I'm guessing the aswMBR didn't explicitly say there was a rootkit
I'd uninstall the iwongie toolbar, and not reinstall it when you reinstall Windows. It stands out that there are quite a few instances of IEXPLORE.exe running, usually turns out to be spyware. See if that goes away after you uninstall IWONGIE and reboot.
You don't need Windows Defender active when you've got Avast, can turn that off from Start > Control Panel > Windows Defender just so you know.
When you reinstall Windows, make sure you install an antivirus before accessing the backups (although you can let the initial Windows updates finish). Wouldn't hurt to have a second opinion running such as Prevx 3 (http://www.prevx.com/freescan.asp) just for the first week, also install Malwarebytes for manual scans.0 -
Thanks Russ, right I have all the disks that come with my dell, can you point me in the direction of re installing, do I just insert the disk or do i need to wipe my computer first? Also is there a way of transferring all my saved emails over to another computer?0

What's the email program?
When you are ready to reinstall after backing up anything you want, yes just insert the CD and reboot.
You want to wipe the MBR before reinstalling though. I'll tell you how.
1. When you get to this screen then press the Repair option down the bottom left.:
http://neosmart.net/wiki/download/attachments/8912902/WelcomeToVistaSetup.png?version=1&modificationDate=1194228155000
2. Next press the 'Command prompt' on this screen http://neosmart.net/wiki/download/attachments/8912902/SystemRecoveryOptions.png?version=1&modificationDate=1194228126000.
3. In the command line, type in:
bootrec /fixmbr and enter
then bootrec /fixboot and enter
lastly format C: /q /fs:NTFS and enter
If it gives a warning for anything, just press Yes and let it do it. After it's done, type Exit and press enter.
4. You should be back at the main screen, so then click on INSTALL.
Just follow the prompts as per this guide:
http://howtoformatacomputer.com/format-windows-vista#more-320
5. When you get into Windows, one of the first things you'll want to do is install an antivirus such as Avira or Avast. You won't be able to while Windows updates are being performed, so let them go first before browsing the web. If you go with Avira, then choose 'custom' and it'll ask you a few more questions - you want to set it to block everything except Games (http://www.users.on.net/~russ/avirathreatcategories.png). If with Avast, the defaults should be fine.0 -
The email is windows mail Russ, I have another laptop and have tried to transfer my emails over but its asking for a password (which I have tried all the obvious but its non of them). Another question, some time ago (after the pchelponline thing) I transferred my files over to the other computer using the microsoft transfer, is it likely I have transferred the virus or whatever it is over to the other computer? At this time I didnt realise there was anything wrong (thought it was my internet running slow). I am so fed up with all this I could happily throttle these people!!!! I really need to save some emails before I can go ahead with clearing the other computer. Also I have lots of pics on Picassa, now I dont know if these are automatically transferred, I cant seem to find them. Im so sorry to be a pain, I am such a novice at this sort of thing :-(0
