Error Message help?

Options
Hi I keep getting the following error message when I log on & am hoping 1) somebody can help and 2) it is nothing serious.
"Smartbridge Alerts. BHelpNotifier.exe - Entry point not found."
The next bit has a red circle with a cross in and says, " The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW (yes it is written like this) could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL" Then ok in a box. When you click ok it vanishes. Everything seems to working ok, except can't get into my scanner. The only thing I can think of that I have done was to do an automatic update to Internet Explorer 7. Would be very grateful if anybody has any idea of what this is please.

I had this error myself and its easy to fix and get rid of the notifier.

Go to 'My computer' and select your local drive (usually almost C:)

Navigate to the Program Files folder, then Verizon... folder, and then open the Smartbridge folder.

You'll see a file called PSAPI.DLL. Rename this file to PSAPIOLD.DLL.

Restart your system and et voila, the message will disappear. The PSAPI file is updated.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi vr6lad. Thanks for your help, only problem I haven't got a file called Verizon to be able to change anything. They are all in alphabetical order & I only have Virgin & Visioneer (Which is the make of my scanner).

you need to search your whole computer for psapi.dll, do you use BT or NTL by any chance? If so it will be found in one of their directories and this is the one you need to rename.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
  • I am using BT at the moment, will have to check, but will soon be changing, will this then not be a problem?

As Woo says, do a search for PSAPI.DLL and make sure it is situated in the Smartbridge folder. Rename the file and reboot. I got rid of BT a few weeks ago but I thought I had a verizon folder.

.......and as Browntoa says, when you switch provider simply go to add/remove programs from control panel, and get rid of all those horrible BT yahoo applications!

  • Thanks folks. Haven't had time to locate the folder yet, but will keep trying.
