No wonder you were duped OP

Why not speak to an independent accountant about the company and also a solicitor? They are the only people who can give you specialist advice - it is far better than relying on advice from people you don't know, it is just like getting advice from your mates in the pub or even your dodgy business partner. Specialists e.g accoutants and lawyers have been trained and know the law, I am not a trained lawyer nor accountant, I run a small business and I have the sense to outsource such matters to specialists rather than asking for advice from a bunch of people I don't know on an anonymous forum.

Sorry - i don't know if this is written in the right place??? - how do you start a new thread?? - basically i would like to know if it is illegal to start a new company using yours wifes name and another relatives address???
The reason I am asking is my business partner is trying to liquidate our company and has started a new business in readiness to take over the original company without me - he has also signed thousands of pounds of cheques to himself without my signiture (our mandate with the bank requires 2 signatures for cheques - am I still liable for these payments???
    Please help anyone
Our business partner has been less than honest! (company money being taken etc and very dodgy accounting) - he has now asked us to liquidate the company and he is going to pay - but as we have received a notice from hmrc that they are planning to wind up the company i do wonder why is he trying to get me to sign to allow him to liquidate the company first @ a cost of 10 thousand?? - i am happy for hmrc to do it - does anyone know how i go about that please??

I'm sorry that the answers you were provided with maybe were not the answers you wanted to hear.
However, hopefully the answers given will help anyone else who may find themselves in a similar situation :)
