Child Tax Credit???

Evening all! Just wondering if you lovely people could offer some clarification on Child Tax Credit.
I had my first baby 5 weeks ago and applied for child benefit and working tax credit. I received my child benefit last Monday but I just checked my bank online and it says I received £46 on Friday from Child Tax Credit. I haven't received any letters about this and I was wondering if this is part of my Working Tax Credit? I've never received tax credits before so i'm unsure if Child and Working Tax credits are different?
I'm calling the working tax credits people tomorrow about it but just wondered if anyone can explain what this £46 is for???

Child & Working tax credits are based on previous tax years joint income and circumstances in the household such as other children, partner..Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

Yes, it's quite normal to get a payment first, and then a week or 2 later, a letter explaining it. They send everything second class.
Child and Working tax credits are claimed together but paid separately. When you said you applied for working tax credit you will have actually applied for both. Depending on your income you might not get any working tax credit (the income taper is applied to WTC before CTC).0
