Happy belated Birthday Serena; apologies for missing it, I didn't realise.:o

LW have you been assessed for adaptations to your bathroom - a wet room or bath lift?? The waiting list can be up to 5 years long in some areas so even if you are just about managing now (and a manual lift by DH wouldn't be classed by the OTs as that) it is worth getting on the list. - apologies if you're all up to speed on what you want and need already though :)
Thanks; we're fairly limited as to what could be done with our bathroom, as it's teeny-tiny, and contains the only loo; also I don't, under any circumstances, want to lose the bath, as a good hot soak is all that gets my back moving in the mornings.

Lol, it's the one thing I hate about going on holiday, you never get a bathroom with a proper bath in it these days! :D

I've looked tentatively at various lifting mechanisms (important that it doesn't yell "disabled person lives here"), and the one Toots has looks reasonably discreet, as well as safe. It's the first time I've seen that design, hence me pricking up my ears, so to speak, and taking an interest. I'm hoping Toots will let us know how she gets on with it.:o

The other thing is I'd like something that we can fit ourselves, as I have a horror of having workmen in.

  • Minion has been collected by KH. He even managed to ask me if she could stay until Monday night, rather than assume it's fine. I said yes (as usual), but asking is appreciated. It gives me more time to prepare for her birthday, anyway.

Finally got around to doing the DW and TD. Another WM load going. And the freesias and gyp look nice in the vase :)

Also decided that I had to do something about the vast number of Aloe Vera babies that have been living on my kitchen table. Suddenly realised that the pots looked about the same diameter as milk bottles - and the milkman never took the last crate away when I cancelled my order. Five minutes later, all the pots are sitting in the milk crate and I placed the sheet of glass I have as an impromptu cold frame on the top so they can sit outside. If they don't cope too well, I shall have to bring them back in somewhere, but that means that I can have meals at the table instead of in front of the telly again.

Munched on an early dinner and will now try to distract myself from the knowledge that the Chinese takeaway 50ft round the corner is open :)

However, on the way back from the shop after buying some polish, had to dodge a rather aggressive and extremely intoxicated street drinker (I am sure the police will have shifted him by now - ugh) and found myself in the rather posh textiles shop. This is a place where it is perfectly normal to spend £500 on having curtains hand made. They have an offcuts bin :) and I have a rather nice 0.94m offcut of £45/m fabric which I should be able to make a cushion cover out of - for £2.50 :T

Unfortunately, I am still a bit hungry :) Maybe the Chinese takeaway is going to be the highlight of my evening - well, along with the Chelsea Flower Show on telly :)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I have had a good day fly wise today.

Today I have managed to change and wash the bedding on DS's bed, although I have had to hang it inside to dry as it started to rain. I have declutter the floor, dusted and tidied DS's room (including his clothes).

Other jobs that I have managed to get completed today are:

    Caught up with emails
Picked up mum and spent time with her
    Dressed and showered
Caught up with surveys and daily clicks
Made a start on list of things to be done during June
Made meals and made the beds.
    Aiming to get Debt Free.

Happy birthday for yesterday Serena -sorry I missed it
    and Happy Birthday mummyof5

OH has severe man flu, proper coughing until he is sick variety. he stopped smoking on new years day, I hate to think how much worse he would be otherwise.

Boys are munching popcorn and watching Princess Bride to celebrate the start of half term. I am off too so hopefully we can get a bit more de-cluttering done.I have fridge bottom soup on so that OH actually eats something tonight, and the usual DW/WM runs are on.

My favourite local garden centre has just had a Lakeland store open. Bliss!

    Hello Flyfriends.

Toots I love the bath chair! (The real one, not the fanciful Valli-inspired one).:D I want one *stamps foot and then wishes she hadn't, cos it hurt.* Seriously, I do wonder how much longer Mr LW will be able to continue craning me out of the bath; although he's fit, he's ter-twiddly-umpty-one now, and one has to realise he's not going to remain fit and strong forever.:o
LameWolf if you have any contact with your community OT then get on to them now - it is not classed as good Health & Safety for you to be manually lifted in / out of bath- also it could be become much more painful for you - my probs are slightly different from yours and I dont have as much pain but there is no way they would let me step in and out and the carers are not allowed to be lifting - it is putting unneccassary strain on your lovely DH - when i was looking for the same model that I have I found almosty the same for 199 - the one I got from the council costs 500 - they of course will only use particular suppliers - whereas you could buy one yourself from anywhere on line or locally. but in your condition you should be getting one supplied - of that I have no doubt!!!! Its all about quality of life!!!!!
Its great LW - I had my first shower using it today - well it was a cross between a shower and a bath - it was so easy - as for the fixing - there is none - thats why I think its great because being a rented property i had to be careful about anything 'fitted' - it needs a flatish bath base and thats it! - it has 4 saucer size suckers that keep it very firmly in place - the handset gets taken of at night and plugged into a charger and is ready for the next day - no electricity needed - it is so easy! if you had people staying you could lift it out of the bath it folds flat like a deck chair! I felt very safe and would conside now having a bath by myself - the handset wont lower you into the batn if there is not enough power to bring you back up so you can not get stuck in the bath!!! I will be using it even just to soak my feet! ETA there is still room for someone to stand in the bath for a shower so DH wouldnt need to take it out at all
as mamaninie says you could be getting an assessment done to see what could be done to make life easier
Mummyyof5 Happy Birthdaysweetie - you desrve a lovely day - hope its been good.:bdaycake:xxxxxx
serena - enjoy half term and belated Happy Birthday xx:bdaycake:
    Peace will be mine
could do better - must try harder
Live each day as if its your last
