The OD is valid for 12 months and then they review your account. They will then either keep it at £500 or explain why it's being changed.
I had my review and got a secure message saying "As you've rarely used your OD we'd like to give you the opportunity to get rid of it or have a limit that is more comfortable for you" So I decreased it to £300 and they were fine. My mate had his increased to £1000 as he used 400 of it, but wanted an extra buffer for some purchases he was making.
FYI in regards to funds transfers. Set one up - call in C/A to SAV or C/A to HSBC and then when you click on money transfers again, you see which one to just click on and use. MAKE sure you put the account it's leaving and the account it's going to ie C/A to SAV in the Name of transfer, otherwise you might have trouble seeing which is which.
Smile is also UK based, Stockport to be exact. 1 floor of a 4 storey pyramid!0 -
No it just means that you get the overdraft for 12 months and then they review it. Sometimes they ask you to send a secure message to 're-apply' for it - simply just a line saying "I want to keep my overdraft at the current level thanks" - and they then consider it. Almost like an annual review. If they approve it, it just carries on as normal for another year. This is probably their opportunity to offer an increase to the OD or decrease it or remove it altogether, but there's no fee for it (as yet!). Sometimes they just automatically tell you that your OD is being renewed without asking you to 're-apply'. I have 2 current accounts - one I had to 're-apply', the other they just automatically approved the renewal and told me on the renewal date.
