Need a 22mm socket 1/2" drive to change the oil in my car, my socket set goes up to 20mm. So I'm wondering which make is best as they are all about the same price:

Halfords Professional (12 point)
Bahco (6 point)
Stahlwille (6 point)
Teng (12 point)

Also should I get a 6 point or 12 point?

6 point is better than 12 point as it grips the sides. None of the above are a bad brand.
  • Instead of buying an individual socket, consider treating yourself to a set of impact sockets.

6 sided and very tough, i've never had one slip yet.

6 Point.... as said it'll grip the sides with less chance of chewing the plug if some numptys over tightened it and its proving stubborn...

The Halfords professional tools are good and often come up on offer so pretty cheap too.

Silverline sockets are pretty good quality and value and is sufficient for just using on the odd occasions like oil changes.

I've got quite a few silverline sockets, and never had any problems with them

6 point.. 12 point will chew the bolt/nut

also check your tool box as spark plug sockets are 16mm and 22mm.. ive just used my 6 point spark plug socket for my sump plug (22mm)
