Fair Price Upvc Cladding

Options
I am currently looking for a company to replace the existing wooden fascias and soffits on my house and garage with upvc.

I have had three companies who have given me estimates which range from £3500 - £14000. All these estimates are based on the same amount of work.

As the estimates vary dramatically i am unsure as to what a fair price is.

All i am really looking for is a reasonable job for a reasonable price.

I live in Lanarkshire and would be grateful if anyone could recommend a local company who will not rip me off and do a good job. Or alternatively suggest a way that i can work out a reasonable price

thanks

Someone who posts on here does uPVC windows and the like. They posted a guide price on cladding somewhere in the last few weeks. Try a search back through this forum.

i'm a builder and im surprised, the lengths the rip off merchants go to. They just cook up insane figures and see if the customer bites.

ok, upvc cladding is about £10 for 5M, so add that up and add labour, i dont think that equals £14k?

If we're talking a typical 3 bed semi the £3k plus seems about right.

A few months ago I quoted a large bungalow for £2800. that included Fascias, guttering and soffits. But in addition I had to carry out repairs to a few roof timbers at the corners of the gable ends. That cost an extra £450. Their garage came in at an extra £500 IIRC due to its needing extra wide fascias.

I didn't use scaffolding as all the work was accessable with or without a ladder - However I may do another time. Your job will definitely require scaffolding.

When they quote, make sure they are quoting for full replacement fascia - NOT coverboard. You do NOT want UPVC nailed over existing timber fascias. A lot of installers will try and sell you this approach. If they won't listen to what you want - show them the door.
