does a tax credit overpayment affect DLA?

Hi all

we have a tax credit overpayment due to my daughter claiming incapacity benefit under the youth rules with the added age addition. What i want to know is, would the overpayment affect her high rate care and Mobility DLA. I dont think it does but i am not sure. Thank you in advance.

DLA is a non-means tested benefit and is unrelated to tax credits so shouldn't any effect at all.

bloomin tax credits. wish we had never applied for them! nowt but trouble and stress. You can never get through to their 'helpline' either without them cutting you off. Anybody else having trouble with them and overpayments?

I don't really understand this statement of complaint about tax credits.

People don't have trouble and stress if they give the correct information.

Unfortunately it seems you have claimed for your daughter as a child but she receives IB in her own right, once this happens she no longer qualifies as a child and it is your responsibility to inform a COC to avoid overpayments.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

you know nothing about me. For your info, i DID inform tax creds about our change of circumstances. I did inform them that she was in reciept of incap. I informed them several times. Several times they told me that everything was ok and then they hit us with a whammy. This has nothing to do with her incap anyway !!! please do not judge me. I think you need to shut up now .
