Facebook page scrolling slow

Laptop, Acer One 531h running Windows XP with 1GB DDR2.
When facebook is used, the page scroll sticks. Pretty bad that it jumps around. I know that the laptop cant handle as well as the computer as this is shown when playing HD MP4 camera files of the kids.
We would find that it was slow, so today i re-installed the laptop, and just completed the updates. Once again facebook is slow with IE8, but everything else is pretty ok.
Anyone else experience this with the website.? We assumed as its trying to process alot of content, and alot of traffic.
