Baby bouncer/swing recommendations please

As above, looking for recommendations for a bouncer/swing for my newborn.

I have got a M&P Little Land bouncer for him at the moment, and despite decent reviews, it is not suitable for a newborn. My son has pretty good neck/back muscles already at just over 2 weeks, but it still doesn't support his head enough. The bouncer is too upright I think.

I am looking for something for him to go in during the day as a break between his moses basket and being held. He's very heavy so can't hold him for hours on end :rotfl:

Cheap as possible please :o

I have a mothercare bouncer/rocker thing THIS STYLE which has an adjustable back so does lay very flat if needed.. they go on ebay for about £10 and i know they have similar ones in Toys R us.

Could you try a car boot? they usually have loads of stuff like this for a few quid... or netmums if it is any good near you.. ours is rubbish!

I had a thought.. would adding one of those head hugger type things help?

Thanks :) Have had a look on ebay and nothing on there suitable. Going to pop to Babies r Us and try him in some if they let us.

I especially like the one you posted a link to, PP. Nice position and support for his head. Bit expensive though.
  • I've found that the cheaper style ones work best like http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Spring-Bouncing-Cradle/dp/B0030G6IES?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=0T1P2XQKW9BF6ZJPM8JC&pf_rd_m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B004O0EQX4&pf_rd_p=223220727&pf_rd_s=bottom-1

as you can bend the metal down so they lie flatter. Also as my sister commented last week when she bought her old one round for me the 2nd hand ones that have been used for a bigger baby seem better as the brand new ones are a bit catapult like:rotfl:

It is very similar to mine.. you can pick them up dirt cheap on ebay and car boots though.

We have a chicco relax and play bouncer, which has been perfect for our lo, has a newborn squishy insert, and keeps our lo amused now for at least 30 mins a time, and was a godsend to put her in for a nap as you can adjust how much it reclines and she hated lying flat in her moses basket.

Think they usually retail for £40 - £50, but we got ours in a tesco home plus store for £15 plus clubcard points back in jan sales.

Hi we have this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-8597.aspx and our LO has been in it from a week old and was the best thing we bought for her. She is 6 months now and we still use it every day. It vibrates also and when our LO wouldn't sleep in her moses basket at about 3 or 4 weeks old, she sleep in this with the vibrate on.

We have the chicco relax and play too, in fact we have 2! Originally for our eldest we kept one at grandma's but now having a baby with severe reflux we have them both at home so there is always a clean one. You can remove the covers and wash them in the machine and its a really comfy bouncer for the baby.
My little one often falls asleep in there, and also once you start feeding them, I put ours quite upright and feed my daughter in it, and because of the reflux I feed her her bottle in there and leave her upright in it for half an hour after feeding and she's quite happy.
I love the way you can recline it if they are sleepy or have it upright for feeding/playing. You can remove the newborn insert and it is suitable for older babies for ages, can't remember when we put it away when our eldest was using it, but our youngest is 6 1/2 months and I can't see us putting it away for a while.
:j Is MSE saving me money, or making me spend more on all the bargains?!:j

I second the Babybjorn bouncer. Best baby bouncer, it cradles them nicely from when they are very small and can be used much longer than a regular bouncer. I had one with my first and I am thinking about getting pregnant with my second and think it might be nice to have one upstairs as well as downstairs. I volunteer at NCT nearly new sales and there was one for £20, I was sooo tempted to buy it, but thought my other half would get a bit mad about having extra carp around the house we don't need when I am not preg. So instead I overzealously tried to sell its virtues to a poor pregnant woman who was not interested in buying it (although I think I may come back to haunt her when another new NCT mummy has one and becomes all evangelical about it like I am :rotfl:). Don't buy a babybjorn carrier though, those are rubbish and strain your back.
