Personally I would like to know if I was circulating something that was an urban myth. I'd rather be told on here that I am mistaken, so I could have a laugh at myself rather than make it worse by spreading it further.

You still seem to be under the impression this is real, it is not, folllow the links already posted, this is an urban myth, it is not true.

Why don't you try it out for yourself and post the result here.
Remember you can put the wrong PIN NUMBER in TWICE with no penalty. After 3rd attempt your card will be swallowed.
PS Take a flask of coffee and a sleeping bag with you, you could have a long wait.

Interestingly enough my home alarm system has this feature. It sends a silent alarm if you reverse the pin number and the manual explains that if you have a number like 1221 then the feature will be disabled for that user.
