Pin Number Reversal (good To Know ?)

OFFICAL INSERT BY MARTIN!
I'm afraid the idea that "typing in a pin number in reverse alerts the police" is an urban myth. It was first suggested in the USA and while the technology is available it hasn't been used. In the UK it simply doesn't exist.

Its an urban myth - think about one major flaw in the system - what happens if your pin is 1221 ?I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

Good point. But really these type of numbers are in the minority. The question I have is that is there really such a system in place? If so it would help a great majority

right ,you are held at knife point or gun point and marched to the ATM where you will calmly remember to enter you pin number backwards .
Assuming it did work ,would you seriously remember your pin backwards when you have a gun held to your head .0 -
I love urban myths, I spend many a happy hour reading some of the stuff on snopes.

Just did not realise how negative people.

Read the link I posted - it was a suggestion that was never implemented commercially.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. People aren't being negative towards you hitenpatel, just having a bit of fun and in their own way trying to tell you it's not true (if only it were).
Follow the link from CIS and have read.

It wouldn't work in practice - you would immediatley exlcude half the available numbers (or at least they would each allow money to be drawn) - all mirrored numbers like 1221 etc would have to go as well.
Also I don't imagine your friendly mugger would stick around long enough for the cops to get there - not that they would simply be able to spring an ambush as thats likely to kick off a hostage type scenerio.
Your best course of action is to comply, give the money, while observing as much as you can about the situation and then get away and call 999 (either backwards or farwards!).
This all stemed from one of those viral emails that plague inbaskets at work....(Which i find really annoying and embarassing when you see the senior managers beliveing em!)
.....sorry i've gone on a bit!!
