                    Hi
My car was stolen and as a result was a total rite off as it crashed into another vehicle(this being stationery)
Approx 4 months on I have been informed that my insurance company will pay out to the third party even though this wasnt my fault and that I will loose my no claims. Can they do this?
thanks to anyone able to advise.
Sharon

If your car was stolen, and you claimed for the loss/ddamage, your no claims discount would be affected anyway.0

Yes, they are obliged in law.
You insurer can however pursue the thief.
The problem is that the thief may be unemployed and have no assets in which case they may not bother.
As Dangermac says, if you claimed for your car, then it makes no difference to you except for putting a higher number in the claim amount.0

No I didnt make a claim at all. The car was a rite off but I just cut my losses because they said that after 12months i would then get 5 years no claims if i didnt make a claim within my first year.
I did say a few days ago to them that I want to cancel my insurance but was then told I will have to pay off the rest of my premium first. Dont have much choice here either way, if i stay with them till end of year when policy ends I am not gaining any no claims, where if i went elsewhere at least i can build my no claims up. But to go elsewhere have to start all over again with the lay out of a large deposit plus having to pay off the rest of my premium. At the moment I am driving a xreg clio that cost me 800. is it worth it? lol0
