Does anyone's tongue fit 'within' the top palette? Mine doesn't. As Pigpen says, look for other reasons for the ulcers; lifestyle, vitamin or mineral deficiency, or an underlying health problem.
When I broke a filling it rubbed on my tongue producing ulcers; the dentist gave me a medicated mouthwash which stung at first but then killed the pain and kept the wound clean until my new crown was ready, which solved the problem.
OP can you ask your GP for a blood test to find the underlying cause?

There are many reasons for ulcers and if you are getting them repeatedly and have had blood tests from gp ask your dentist to refer you to oral medicine department of local hospital who may be able to help. Gps are normally not that good with mouth disorders.

There is no way you will get braces over the age of 18 on the NHS unless your problems are so bad you need jaw surgery etc. However if you suffer from ulcers braces can be excruciating and make things worse whilst they're on. Even if you wanted to pay privately for braces I would get the reason for the ulcers thoroughly checked out first.

Thank you for all your replies. Firstly, I have had my bloods checked and there is no reason for the mouth ulcers. They are extremely painful and I have tried every medicine on the market. they last for weeks and my last one was the size of a 10p, and I was unable to talk, eat and struggled to swallow. My top pallette has changed shape since having my wisdom teeth out, that is where the problem has come from. Secondly, I would love to be able to pay for the treatment, but my husband and I are both disabled and care for each other. therefore, it is not an option for me at the moment. Thank you though for the tip on the teaching hospital, I'll look into that.
