number of car seats important ?

i started a different thread on here about my MOT , but i have also just realised that my car only has four seat belts . 2 front 2 back . i have had a passenger in the back about 3 times i think , and never more than one passenger in the back . only noticed cause was hoovering the back , something i usually get done by car wash gangs
i think i probably assumed that it had 5 seats when i got my insurance quote , cause all other cars i have had , have had 3 seat belts in the back
call me paranoid but i hear so many stories of insurance companies not paying out on minor mistakes like this that i don't know if this is relevant .
yes if i was carrying 5 people then i know i would be doing wrong , but 95% of mileage is just me on my own. and i won't be transporting 5 people in the future
i can just ring them on change it , but they want £25 quid every time you change something . this will be the third change i need to do if i do need change the details
there is nothing on my insurance certficate about the number of seats , but i guess there probably is in the rest of the paperwork that is kept safe for me by a relative who is away this weekend
any advice greatly appreciated

You are paranoid
Insurance companies only reject a minority of complaints on non-disclosure issues and the FOS have very simple guidelines to follow if they do. Something like this is not something you need to be concerned with unless you have modified the car.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). lift the back seat up and it should be there, if it isnt then there should be 2 holes where it bolts in, a local scrappy may have one in stock.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
What does the registration document say for number of seats?
That is what the insurance company will have on their records.0 -
thanks for the replies .
Reg documents are under lock key at the in laws . they are off in their caravan till monday .
i will lift seats up in the morning , and see what i can find .
how many stories ? enough that i just don't trust insurance companies.
please feel free to tell me i am only listening to the badBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
See here.
From what I can make out, a third belt is not a legal requirement although other legislation means that it cannot be occupied if a rear seat with a belt is not being used.0
