As the title says really.
I lost my card a couple of months ago so had it cancelled and was issued a replacement. Last week I tried to withdraw money from a betting website but it was withdrawn to my OLD cancelled card instead of my shiny new one.
Obviously because the card was cancelled I didn't receive any of the cash to my account. The website in question say that they can't do anything from their end and to contact my bank.
I'm going to give the bank a call on Monday but was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and can advise on where I stand?
Thanks

The money should go back to your account as the old card will still be linked with you hence why things like recurring payments etc can be done on lost/stolen cards.
Best to contact the bank as they will have the money sitting in suspense if they havent already given it to you.0 -
The betting website didn't 'erroneously' send the money to your old card. It's your fault for not deleting it from their website.
The money will be directed to your account or end up in a suspense account, identified as your money and easily retreived.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
What information did you give them in order for them to pay the money into your account?
Normally, to pay money in you use an account number and sort code. No matter how many cards you get this information will remain the same.0 -

I was on Live Chat with one of their customer support teams throughout the entire withdrawal procedure. I was assured that the money would be withdrawn via my newly registered card and this was initially shown on the account statement. However, due to a "system error" the funds were then processed via my original card details as a portion of the money had been deposited via it. The website does not allow deletion of previous payment methods. By referencing the logged chat, in which I informed them that the original card was no longer active, they have accepted responsibility for the mistake. What information did you give them in order for them to pay the money into your account?
They just had the debit card number, no actual account details.
Thanks for the replies guys, hopefully it'll be fairly simple to sort out.0
