Best place for bathroom suite?

Electric shower has been leaking which means the tiles need to come off and I may take the opportunity to re-do the whole bathroom, any ideas of the best place to look for a new basic white suite?
Not a big bathroom, in fact pretty small so nothing fancy required.

If all you want is basic white then I would go to B&Q,they usually have them on offer at decent prices.0

See previous discussion http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=315659A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

if you have a very small bathroom, like mine i am about to do, and need space saving pottery that looks good i can point you in the right direction for a good merchant not too far away form edinburgh, if you travel as far as falkirk. before anyone gets arsey I am not promoting my business or any business i will benefit from in any way, just the scottish distributor of what i consider to be the best looking space saving pottery that also happens to cost a lot less than the market leader.0

"Best Place for a bathroom suite"
Why - the bathroom of course! - Well you wouldn't want it in the garden, especially this time of year!
Seriously - B and Q is good - they often do 15% off around this time of year. Also have a look at Focus, Wickes and Homebase. All the DIY sheds will be cutting prices to shift stock in the new year.
My latest suite - was erm - free! A professional in the trade had a client who is remodelling his house and wanted as much as poss to be reused by other people. Well I wasn't going to turn down a £3000 suite now was I? Nor was I going to turn down a cloakroom toilet and designer sink, light fittings, a couple of good carpets, some curtain poles, light fittings or an aga!Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
I would suggest Wickes. They have a basic shell shaped suite for under 200 pounds. The quality is very good for the price. The range is called "Coral".0

I had a read through the link that Bobproperty posted, sorry for not searching first

It seems that in point of fact as I would quite like a "fashionable" sink I might be better looking to buying separates rather than a suite so I'll start having a look round and Falkirk certainly isn't too far to travel

Dear Edinburghlass the merchant is FBS, gowan avenue, definantly a trade place so best to call first to make sure they will supply you. i would suggest the compact pottery by RAK ceramics, should find this on an rak website. Very small dual flush push button cistern if you go for the close coupled 2 sizes of basin 450 and 550 wide with option of 1 or 2 tap hole. can suggest others if this is not to your taste0

our plumber got us a discount through a plumbers merchant. we went in and picked it and he paid for it. worked out much cheaper.
he was very helpful too. told us which to avoid etc and to look for baths with reinforced bases because we were using it as a shower too if you know what I mean.x x x0 -

In addition there is nothing to prevent the installer from adding further reinforcement whist fitting it.
Most acryllic baths these days have the chipboard bonded to the base. You usually have a 5th leg to attach under there in the middle. I would advise salvaging the same leg from your old bath if you're chucking it, and fitting that near the tap end, or where you'll be standing in the shower in addition to give you a total of 6 legs. Just make sure you use the same length of screws as they supply you for the leg they supply otherwise you'll go through the base of the bath.
An alternative to this is to chock it up with 6 inch wide timber near this spot. If you want you can do this either side of the 5th leg.
Edinburgh Lass - have you thought about placing a wanted ad on Freecycle.org? I never cease to be amazed about people who dispose of perfectly good white suites just because they want something slightly different. If you want a particular style of basin then just pick out the bath and the WC and pass the basin on.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
I got my bathroom items from Travis Perkins 2 years ago. They were very reasonably priced.
I managed to bag a corner shower cubicle for half price as it was end of range, the toilet and sink were a value range but its the accessories that jazz up the room. I spent the most on the tiling from Topps Tiles, a friend had a discount card.
Be prepared for unexpected expense though, when they took the old bath out the floor was deemed rotten and would have to be replaced.Panda xx
