Car auctions State the vehicle is sold as seen with all faults and imperfections, the buyer is recommended to arrange an inspection prior to bidding.

Personally I would never buy a car through ebay. There are too many scammers, and people know this, so you are unlikely to get as much for the car.

I would personally sell through Autotrader.

Someone said that if the winning bidder changed their mind after test driving the car then they would start a NPB dispute. Well the buyer could just as easily start an item not as described dispute.

There are just too many variables when selling cars through an auction site.

    - Should I let potential bidders come and see it before the auction ends?

    - If so, should I put my mobile number on the listing or is this a bad idea?

    - If a potential bidder does come and see the car, I assume they can't test drive it?

    - What about payment methods? I was going to require a £250 PayPal deposit within 24 hours of the auction end and then the balance via cash on collection. Does this sound okay? Should I offer any other payment methods?

    Any other tips?

    Thanks in advance! :)

    - Yes you should allow bidders and potential buyers to see the car before the auction ends, This will help you to avoid disappointment and get bids etc because if you where a scammer you would not want people coming to see the 'Car' before it was paid for and once the deposit was paid for you could run off with the money.....

    - No, I'd personally put an email address up, Then once someone has contacted you via that, i'd then give them a contact number securely, Instead of disclosing it to the world to see.

    - It would be against the law for them to test drive it, Why ? Well because I'm assuming they won't be insured to drive the car.

    - No deposits, Just ask for cash on collection within 7 days of winning, Make sure you have someone with you when you make the transaction aswell, Better to be safe than sorry.

Also, Add pictures, Loads of pictures so potential bidders can see every angle of the car, Sometimes a youtube video helps aswell just to reassure that the car works (many sellers do this).

Give an in depth description to, Describe the good points, And also mention the bad points, Any work that needs doing mention that to.

    Great advice, thanks!

However, I think I'm going to stick with requiring an immediate PayPal deposit once the auction is over. I'll be moving overseas about a week after the auction ends so it's important that I try and minimise the chance of being taken for a ride by a time-waster. I've had a look at many finished auctions and lots of sellers request a PayPal deposit and have seen excellent auction end prices despite this requirement.

They finish, but the scammer still doesn't pay, and even an honest buyer would just open a dispute with you as "item not as described" and paypal would refund him.

Why don't you just sell through Autotrader?

Hi guys, if people email asking if I have a "buy-now" price to end the auction early, what should I do?

I do have a price in mind, but not sure if sharing it is a good idea - it might affect the outcome of the auction?

    What do you reckon?

    Thanks!

Well that's obvious...why would you sell it for a lower price because someone asks you to? You have auctioned it because you want the maximum you can get for it.
