VOIP Linksys PAP2 setup probs - Help!

OK I've setup previously for my Father one of these but this is a newer version and I can't get the command prompt from dialling ****.
It is a Thompson Be Box router connect via a ethernet cable to the internet port on the Linksys. I've connected the phone line to the phone line 1 on the linksys.
This leave the linksys phone 2 empty and nothing is plugged into the filter on the phone box.
Everything on the internet just says connect linksys phone 1 to your phone. Ethernet cable to router and dial ****.
I don't get this command prompt.
