Application for new current A/C with recent C/C application

Hi,
I recently got a new credit card (card delivered last week) and so of course I have a very recent credit search on my file, however I also wish to apply for a new current account somewhere as I am sending Lloyds a letter requesting that charges be repaid to me.
As I note that Lloyds are highly likely to close my account upon paying out I really do need to apply for the new current account before proceeding so the question is, will the recent C/C application search have an effect on the likelyhood of being accepted for a decent current account (want one with a VISA debit at least to match Lloyds - also preferably mobile insurance, breakdown cover etc.)?
And can anyone recommend one that meets this? (I already have HSBC and Natwest but they aren't the right accounts for my needs and are already being used for other things).
Cheers

Opening a new current account will go through the credit check system and if both checks are close together it could affect your application. My wife a few years ago went to open an account with HSBC at the same time as she had just got a job in banking, and for that job they had ran a credit check. the account was not turned down entirely but she was put on the more basic account and solo card etc. to begin with. if they don't like the look of the credit search this may be what they do to you. but, of course, it all depends, you may find it all goes through with no problems.
good luck with the charges.0 -
One credit card check should make no difference in itself. What else will they find which may sway them (e.g several maxed out cards, other CC applications over the last few months, etc.)?Ethical moneysaver0

Nothing at all - my last applications would be a Current account over a year ago, phone contract around 6 months ago and a previous C/C application in April.. then my M&S one 2 weeks ago - currently have the 2 C/Cs, one of which is paid in full every month (with HSBC) and my new M&S one which now has just 15% of the available balance spent at 0% for 12 months.
Never had missed payment and always run my accounts well (the charges I'm contending were due to a genuine mistake on my part where a payment had not cleared and it sent me over the limit on my current a/c - rarely go into my overdraft)
So it should be pretty good, especially as I've been on the electoral roll at the same address since I turned 18 (4 years) - that makes me feel old now lol- my main concern was whether it would be worth waiting a month or two before applying or do it straight away (which would mean 2 searches in a month?) and would waiting affect m chances of getting charges back - I've been reading that banks are quickly trying to prevent this?
