Only advice I'd give is, if you plan on taking your foot off the pedals when using CC, practice finding the brake pedal in a hurry. Last thing you want to do is hit the clutch (or even worse, the accelerator) by mistake when someone pulls in front of you.
I kind of have two modes of using CC, on an empty road then my feet are down in front of the pedals, resting. But if I'm passing a lot of traffic I'll keep my foot just resting on the throttle pedal, ready to go for the brake.0 -
In my case regular use of CC has virtually eliminated pain and cramps in my right foot on long journeys. I don't really care if it makes the fuel consumption worse, the price is worth it.

I drove a Leyland Highwayman Motorhome to Alicante and back about 25 years ago. 3 days driving each way at 50-55mph for the most part. I was in agony with leg cramps every night. On our return I bought and fitted an aftermarket cruise control. The vehicle had no electronics. It worked via a vacuum actuator which pulled a chain attached to the throttle mechanism on the carb, a sensor linked into the LT ignition circuit for rpm sensing and a steering column control for on/off, +/-, and a link into the brake light circuit to disconnect it if the brakes were applied. Marvellous. It worked perfectly, never let me down and absolutely transformed that vehicle.0 -
My MO for driving a vehicle with CC on long motorway journeys is to run the the trucks on the inside lane, CC set to around 58 to maintain distance. I may occasionally have to nip out and overtake or to let traffic slip on but i anticipate it well ahead and do it gently.
If i see a hill of any great amount,i may flick the CC off.
I find this works well.
I also squash toilet rolls so that they dont spin on the holder.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
