Travel insurance?

Off to Egypt next week for a week then Malta in August for ten days.
Not sure about travel insurance, what the best thing to do is, choose annual cover (didnt know if it'd be a lot more as Egypt would mean worldwide cover rather than European) or single trip cover...
- have tried some compare websites but i dont know which ones really cover what you want or need?!
Has anyone found a good and well trusted company that cover all the right things that charge a reasonable rate?
Any advice appreciated
