Vent:Not so Ideal World

Options
Ideal world is driving me mad

I bought an electric frying pan in March as I had sold my range cooker and was looking for something that could fry onions/ veg and brown meat before putting it into the crock pot.
This seemed like the best option as it has a multi temp setting and was massive. It was only £22 so hardly going to break the bank either.

It arrived at the end of March and worked fine until the last week of April where it refused to heat up.
The lights came on but no matter what setting it was on it did nothing more.

OK I thought, no major problem as it came from a big company and I bought it online so had the details vie my log in page with them.

I go to ideal World and their web site tell me I need to call an 087 number (at 10 pence plus per minute from BT landlines) I only have a mobile so I try everything first before calling.
I try www. sayno but none of the numbers listed there work apart from the CR manager who is away on hoilday anyway.
I email them then and ask for the return document (as nothing was supplied in the box when the fryer arrived)
no response.
I wait a week and email again...nothing again

I try calling and at the 4 quid mark I hung up as it was getting silly and there is only so much musak I can listen too.

So final email and this time I get a reply the same day saying they tried to call and my number was wrong so could I call them on..yep you guessed it on a 087 number

I checked my number and it is right, I then emailed back again asking that someone contact me as this is a faulty item and hardly my fault.

Back to nothing again, there is not even the standard "Thank you for your email, we will get back to you" thing

I was going to buy this thing off ebay but thought I would get better returns should anything happen going through a major company..boy was I ever wrong.

I have no idea why these things need to be so difficult.

Will stick with Lakeland from now on as they might be a little bit more expensive but you can not fault their customer service and the way the deal with problems.
There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.
