Which is better the Sony E-reader or the Kindle ? and are either supported by the Linux Operating system or by using Windows on a virtual machine ?

I really can't make up my mind about them. I love my books and can't see that a piece of technology can ever replace the smell/feel etc of a real book.

I tried a sony e-reader this week and kept trying to turn the page
:rotfl:

I would welcome fellow poster's views both for and against and if anyone can tell me whether I would be ok with using Linux as the operating system then I would be very grateful

Both are supported by Calibre, an excellent piece of open source software, so managing them under Linux shouldn't be a problem

I absolutely love my Kindle, I really can't recommend it enough

I love my Sony, but then I did not want wireless or 3g on it. Would suggest you go and try a few out, get a feel for them, you can only decide if you have them in your hands. I know you've tried the Sony, go somewhere where you can try the Kindle too, then figure out what you want from a reader. I use my Sony for library books among other things, but I think libraries are going to start supporting the Kindle too soon.
