Message on computer

Hello All

My frined has asked me to ask on here about a message she has on her computer saying that "mozilla firefox is infected with trojans and she needs to install win 7" at a cost of 59.99 to fix the problem. I have told her this is probably a scam but how does she get rid on the message?

I tried to look for a similar post but could not find any

you need to know exacly which "virus infection" it claims to be , will offer to sell you "superspyware2011" or something

then you will normally find a step by step guide on the bleepingcomputer web site

Yes it's a scam.

Download and install Malware Bytes. Run that.

can you open task manager?

alot of viruses like this will block it and any antivirus software and say its a virus to stop you getting rid of it. if it does, boot the system in safe mode to stop it blocking. go to task manager, find the application and right click and select 'go to process' and you should be able to right click it to go to the files location and delete. If you cant delete, you can find the name of the process and search your PC and delete.
