It all depends what a full shop is for you, im sure some people could do a full shop if they liked pasta based foods eg lasagne(do aldi still lasgane sheets) or meat based foods with a curry sauce. There may be a few items you cant get in lidl/aldi or you have a preference for an own brand. Ive had bread form there and i didnt reckon much to it so i always get warburtons.

I do most of my shopping at Lidl but I do pop into my local Tesco about once a month for the odd item that they don't stock. I can't praise Lidl too highly for the quality and price of things like laundry detergent, olive oil and ground coffee. Lidl's is the cheapest (and the best) ground coffee I've ever been able to find

I do one full circle of my town once a week and find this works for me,although I do have a smallish Morrisons 2 minutes away which I use as a corner shop for bread milk etc.
Aldi are good for super 6, large egggs, castor, ground almonds, flaked almonds, then off to farmfoods for toilet paper and mature cheese 1kg for £5 cheapest I've ever seen, next door to lidl for any other fruit veg, chocolate, icing sugar,UHT milk, flour, other cheeses any other offers then to Tescos for the rest.
There is no meat here as I just buy when on offer whoever has a good deal on.
I do alot of baking cakes for a market so I have to do this to get the best prices of basic ingredients.
It does take a couple of hours to do this but its essential for me the way prices are going at the moment.

I do pretty much - then go to specialist shops for more obscure stuff and occassionally asda for stuff I know is cheaper there - smart price oats, honey and syrup. I do do and ocado order if they send me a good enough voucher or a quick look around waitrose for reduced items too.

I plug my shopping list into my supermarket and print off the 'shopping list' it gives you with the prices for tescos. I take that to aldi and lidl, and anything i can get cheaper (and that I'm satisfied with the quality of) I buy in aldi and lidl. I have to say there's been very little I've had from either shop so far that I've not been happy with, and I normally save 15 - 20 pounds on a 100 pounds shop.
current debt as at 10/01/11- £1250

I used to do this too, but found so little that was cheaper it wasn't worth the effort. If you buy Tesco value stuff all the way. Lidl/ Aldi might sometimes have a bargain on, but the same can be said for many places.

I am a recent Aldi convert having been dragged there under some duress a few months ago.

This last week I was in Germany, popped into Aldi for some vegan staples to keep me going whilst out and about, they had some great "brittle" bars (not just peanut and sesame, but almond and cashew too - delicious!), excellent quality mixed fruit and nuts (unlike many similar goods, no nasty peanuts) and also the most amazing soya milk I have ever tasted. Going to my local branch to investigate whether I can get the same stuff this evening, I saved the packaging so if it's not there I will see if I can persuade the staff to order it for me. Wish me luck!
