Toilet leaking from behind

I have a closed coupled toilet which was fitted around 8 years ago. When someone sits on the pan it drips from behind the pan. The tank sits on the pan and when someone heavy sits on the pan it moves away from the tank hence the drip. Otherwise it does not drip.

I think there is a doughnut fitted to these type of toilets.

Just want to know how to stop it leaking. Do i just tighten the screws?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

The pan should be screwed to the floor. The cistern is fixed to the pan but should also be screwed to the wall. You might like to take a look at why there is relative movement and fix that first. If its the pan moving relative to the cistern but the cistern is secured fixed to the wall just tightening the pan/cistern fixings might just result in a cracked and/or broken cistern.

If the leak has been going for a while the floor behind and below the pan maybe damaged / rotten.

As Keystone says check the fixing of the pan to the floor, also the fixing of the cistern to the wall.

After 8 years there may have been a small leak that can turn into a toilet re-fit.

Are you sure it is coming from the cistern and not form the waste pipe.

We had slight movement as described but it was actually the rubbertube/seal between the pan and the waste pipe that had perished/worn.

Having checked that the cistern is not pulling away from the pan by being screwed too high up/ too far from the wall, you need to replace the sealing ring. www.Screwfix.com part number 17405

The pan is securely screwed to the wooden floor and the cistern is firmly fixed to the wall.

The drip only happens when a heavy adult sits on it. When kids sit on it there is no drip. When not in use there is no drip. I do have small containers underneath the area to catch the drips.

There is no rot around the pan.

I feel the rubber washer may have worn out a bit and the screws need tightening or the rubber washer replacing.

Will keep an eye on it and will get the tools out when it gets worse.
