MamaMoo - they told be before already that this only applies to people who were signing on for 26 weeks and are getting income based JSA...already asked a while ago. It is really so unfair :(

Not true. I had been claiming for two weeks.

Just an update for anyone that may be in a similar situation in the future.

Went to JC on Friday, said I have a job to start on Tuesday the 31st, filled in some paperwork, asked about the extended payments of HB and CT but was told I do not qualify for those.

As it happens, my claim start date was 1st December BUT as I went away for Xmas (just 3 days), they have then closed my claim (told them I was going abroad for those 3 days - everything was closed but they still closed my claim), I had to do rapid reclaim on the 27th December and THAT counts as the start date of my claim, not the 1st December :(

So I lost BIG time here but.... was offered £100 towards my travel, got a giro for that (monthly tralecard is £123.70, have to pay the rest myself).

At least this was helpful, very helpful in fact as I will not get paid till after the second week of the new job.

Thanks a lot everyone who replied on this thread.
