Mobile phone and data use in US only, no UK calls

As the title says I'm after some info on the best sim card to use, and where to get it for using a Blackberry, mostly for data use, but also the occasional phone call.
It will be in the US, which we are travelling to several places around the country, so coverage national coverage will need to be pretty good, and we won't be phoning the UK at all, as most of our phone calls will be to friends and relatives in the US.
We'll be over there for 3 weeks only, so are looking at some sort of pay as you go.
