Statements Charges

Hello

I think this might sound like a silly question, but just making sure!

I just wanted to ask please that when we send the request for complete 6 year's bank statements with the £10 fee, can the bank make any charge for the statements, other than the £10 fee that we have enclosed?

Thanks very much.

  • as far as i know £10 is the maximum amount the bank can charge! they may try and charge more - but they can only charge £10 - some banks like HSBC will supply the statements for free, Natwest charge £5, others like RBS want the full £10.

The £10 fee is the maximum allowed by the Data Protection Act for a Subject Access Request.

Banks can charge more for duplicate copies of statements though, make sure they are aware that this is an SAR and you want ALL the information they hold on you.
