Phone scam?!?!?

Apologies if this is in the wrong place but over the last few weeks I've had the same number keep ringing my mobile phone (not unusual in itself I know) but the number has a dialling code of +6, well I assume it is the whole number comes up on my mobile as +61450248646.

Now it started off ringing maybe once a day, then I didn't hear from it at all. I didn't answer it because of the strange number and when I dialled it back from my desk phone after the first call my telephone wouldn't dial it as it said 'this type of phone call is barred from this phone'. I then assumed it was some sort of phone scam or something.

Well now it calls me every few minutes for a while and then maybe every hour and it must have got really fed up with me because just now when it put it on ignore for the 14th time the same number text me saying 'Answer your phone gay it doesn't cost u anything tight !!!'.

I have resisted texting this number back and I'm in the process of getting the number barred from calling me but the curious part of me would love to know who on earth is wasting so much of their day ringing me!

Does anyone know where +6 originates from? There is nothing online as to who or what this may be. Well only what I posted on whocallsme.com as no-one else seems to have this problem!

Any help gratefully recieved,

Becci :)

Country code 61 is Australia. The 4 means it's a mobile phone.

No chance of a m8 being in Australia trying to give you a call ?

+614 is definately an australian mobile as maninthestreet rightly says.

Given that they have texted that message, i would be surprised if this was a scam.
Do you know anyone in australia?

Ah thanks! I know no-one in Oz so guess it's a wrong number! Will answer the next time it rings. I just couldn't work out the number and was trying to get my head round it lol. Feel a bit silly now! Will let you know what I uncover :o)

It sounds like a complete moron who hasn't grasped the fact they have the wrong number, rather than a scam. Just answer it next time they ring and tell them they've got the wrong number. Or if you're feeling evil, pretend to be the person they think you are and string them along a bit...

How could they "grasp the fact" that it's the wrong number if no-one has answered the phone?!

If they're that desperate to talk to you, why aren't they leaving a voicemail??!
