    thanks for all the replys
im aware anything over £500 as to be authorised several times
i was originally asking how long i should give them.
i ring every week and have done for about 6 weeks.
like i said they are very polite and helpful but i get the same story thats its being passed from manager to manager
there must come a point when enough is enough. thats what i need to know. time scale then next action
obviously the money i paid over for 16 months has been going to someone. either my ex or the csa who may have failed to inform me that they should have closed the case. I DONT CARE. but yes if the ex has been receiving it when she shouldnt have, then yes she should refund it, just like we have to pay any arrears i just want to get back what i have over paid
  • Every time there is a coc I am told it will take upto 24 weeks to work it out. So don't hold your breath that anything will happen soon. Just keep in touch, to make sure they dont forget you.

    its not exactly a coc
my case as been closed my payments have stopped and i have overpaid by 16 months
    they owe me around £4200
they have completed there final breakdown, in fact its been done for around 4 weeks but they keep passing it around department after department for so called checking ,
all i wanted to know was how long before i make a stand and say enough is enough , and then what action can i take
the people i speak to on the phone have all the info infront of them but cant tell me anything other than it has to go for further checks,
its not rocket science, they say i overpaid by 16 months. i got that in writing
    i paid £61 a week so thats 62 weeks at £61 = ££££££££££££££
  • I realise your case is not a coc, I was just pointing out how slow they are at doing anything.

I hope you get your refund soon. If you feel its all taking too long contact your local MP. The csa definitely move quicker when they are contacted that way.

  • Im in a similar situation to you, I received a letter in December 2010 saying I had overpaid child maintenance by over £3000, despite numerous phone calls I have yet to receive anything back. The payment has been authorised for months and yet they seem incapable of placing it in my bank account, everytime I ring them they try something different and each time you have to wait 10 working days for it to clear!

There could be a light at the end of the tunnel though, I've had a phone call from them today and they have promised that it is now sorted and the money should be with me shortly, we'll see....

My advice to you is be prepared for a long wait..

i also had a call today
they rang this morn and finally they were able to tell me how much it was they owe me. (i had my own figures but they couldnt tell me untill it was finalised.) £4148
they told me it can take up to 3 weeks to be refunded and that they had also sent me a letter explaining it all ,
hopefully that will arrive in the morn and then i got it in black and white

Contact your MP. He/she will probably put a rocket up them and it will be signed off and in your bank in no time. It does seem ridiculous that so many people have to authorise it. As you say its not rocket science. Do they not trust themselves to add up the excess payment or something.

It must be getting on your nerves OP. The csa seem like incapable twits to me.

Oooops didn't read all the thread and now notice you have recieved confirmation in writing of your refund. Glad its getting sorted at last
