still waiting for refund

about 6 weeks ago i contacted csa with some info that helped close my case
ive been paying for almost 19yrs
the youngest turns 19 in aug
anyway after this info i gave them, they closed the case, and told me i had also overpaid by 16 months. that's around £4200 they owe me.
a week or 2 later they stopped taking from my wage.
anyway i was told my case would have to be looked at to see what they owed me and then it would have to be checked ,checked and checked again, to make sure the figures were right
so i ring every week to see were they are up to.
i must admit they are very helpfull and friendly (yes its true)
and at times apologetic for the delay. but still i wait
i last rang almost 2 weeks ago to be told that the calculations were all complete but still needed to be authorised buy yet another manager
im very polite on the phone and thank them for all there help,
but dont know how long i can keep this up.
what are they doing. are they waiting to see if my ex will be able to pay all the overpayments back before they give it to me, or are they just using it to get interest for themselves,
they cant even tell me how much they owe me.
do i just hang on in there or do i make a protest

Are you sure the ex has to pay back the overpayment? I thought it was the CSA themself that were liable for any overpayments.about 6 weeks ago i contacted csa with some info that helped close my case

It probably should be the PWC's responsibility for the money though if they failed to tell them the child was no longer in full time education. But alas it will probably be us the tax payers that has to foot the bill for this 'oversight'."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0

i was only guessing when i said they may be stalling to see if she can pay it back 1st.
but on the same subject if she failed to tell them wouldn't this be fraud.
so as a tax payer ill be funding my own refund. i guess ill get 16 months interest as well. oh and the £1 a week my company took for admin.
i only got the info as i found it on facebook had i not seen this i would have probably paid up till august and been none the wiser.
so either my ex informed the csa 16 months ago and they didnt bother to tell me, or she didnt in which case she should be forced to pay it back, just like all the poor fathers on here who are being fleeced beyond there means .
it works both ways.
anyway back to my original question. how much longer should i give them? and then whats the next move0 -

He is saying she should be forced to pay it back if she didn't inform the CSA.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0 -
I don't think he is assuming anything, just stating that it could be either of those two scenarios.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Even if she did inform the CSA, she should still have to pay it back. NRP's have to pay arrears even when they have informed the CSA of changes, because they take so long to sort things out. Plus, if she has informed them, then she must know she is not entitled to it, even if she was still getting it, so she should have given it back to the NRP every month, till they sorted it out.0

Or kept it aside (like NRPs are told to do) so when the CSA come calling for the money they can pay it back.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
NSD : 2/80 -

Any refund above £500 has to be authorised by higher managers, which is probably what is holding things up. The PWC *will* be expected to pay the money back, it is irrelevant whose fault the overpayment is.
You'll not get any interest, as it appears the CSA weren't aware that the child wasn't still classed as a qualifying child - you have now notified them, and they have done their job. You'll also not get whatever fees your company took from you back either.0
