Thanks all for the great support - I'm on the case with my credit file and cahoot, altohugh I think I will have to grin and bear it for at least 7 months when I should get a boost to my rating by having a clean payments record for a couple of years

Ive got a friend that used to work at cahoot, and he told me that basically they want to shut cahoot down.
the loan increase is to 14.9% is to get people to move off it to abbey. next it will be the current a/c's and credit cards apparently.0 -

Aye see thats wonderful as long as you have a good enough credit rating that abbey will accept you! I very much doubt they would accept me so im in limbo.
I could give it a go - but I was determined not to have any more credit searches on my record for a year to clean it up...0 -

Well, thats the problem, even though you want to transfer a balance all ready on a loan to another and close previous down they still insist on a credit check, which is stupid really considering abbey owns cahoot.
at cahoot they are closing the cahoot divisions down bit by bit and transfering it to abbey and making cahoot employee's redundant. they made a whole department redundant about a year or so ago.
personally id avoid cahoot. unfortunalty im stuck with their 14.9 flexi lon as well at the moment. got it at 6.1% under 2 years ago.0 -

ah well - snap!
Best I could hope for from abbey would be the same rate - but on a fixed term loan. No advantage to me in that so im sticking where i am. Have planned my overpayments to my other debts though so I am paying cahoot up as soon as poss.0 -
what a total pain for you about cahoot but how well you're doing otherwise!! really impressive determination, well done :T :T :T0

Hi clarab, welcome to mse. You have done well with your debts and it seems like you have taken advantage of the same money making/refunds that we have - bank charges, overtime, sky. I started off doing an obscene amount of overtime at first but it soon became too much and I have slowed down a lot although still do between 7-21 hours a month.
Look after yourself, it can be a 'slog' but the end will be so worth it. I have a cahoot account which I have never used, I am going to write and cancel it today, your message has just remineded me to do that.
hugsDebtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -

If you're interested in sticking it to Cahoot you could open a Cahoot savings account through quidco - deposit £1 & get the £25 cashback then close the account.
