Family tickets are available from Ekram at £35 so be sure to check it out before you go through Groupon. Great for individuals though. I do have an uneasy feeling about this though as I still have the New Forest Lapland fiasco in my mind. I can't help thinking that it will be impossible for everyone to hold a tiger cub. How can they keep both the public and the animal happy? How many tiger cubs can they possibly have?

I think there is something not right about this experience. A family ticket is cheaper than a single adult. Also there are a few spelling mistakes on the website and only a mobile phone number for contact.

I looked at the website and felt a bit uneasy. Is there going to be a long queue of people lined up to hold one animal? It doesn't seem very kind to the animals. The organiser seems to be a bit of whizzkid - excellent exam results, now in medical school - maybe it is all above board and animal-friendly, but I would like much more information first.

It appears that this event is being sold before Camden Council agreed to the room booking. Personally, I think that makes the whole thing a bit suspect and doesn't fill me with too much hope that the rest is that well organised either.

Word on the street is that Camden Council will refuse the booking in the next couple of hours.

    Pity the poor animals involved.

Camden Council have confirmed that this event will not be held on its premises: http://twitter.com/camdentalking/status/72603624089468929

On the animal welfare issue, just imagine what you go through when you're driven around London in a car. Then put yourself in a box or a small cage. Still convinced? Crocodiles have no place in a box, in a van or in Camden.

  • Hi guys - I'm a journalist and I'm following this with interest.

Has anyone here paid up for tickets to this, or know anyone who has?

Mr Alam has apparently sold around 2,874 tickets through Groupon at £14 each for his Fayre, yet Camden Centre is adamant there's no event to go to.

I'd be interested to make contact with anyone who intends to go.

    Dave.

    Hi Dave
I bought tickets to go through groupon, however after reading about pertitions to stop the event and that the Camden Council were not in fact hosting it, I was concerned. I have just rang the RSPCA who have told me they have not approved the event, had no knowledge of it and have no involvement. They are currently taking action. I have just emailed groupon to try and get my money refunded (although they will probably just refund my groupon account and not my actual account which will be a pain) but I do NOT intent to go to this event! You can see the pertition that was signed through google (animal UNfayre or something like that!) It all sounds very wrong to me (a money making sceme!)
Hope this helps! Good luck with your report!

Just got my email reply from groupon confirming they will refund the ticket...

    Hi,
I have now cancelled your Groupons for Ekram Alam's Animal Fayre (x2) and refunded the amount of £28 back to your method of payment. Our partner has already been informed that this Groupon is no longer valid. Please allow up to 5 working days for the payment to clear back to your account.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Just wish I hadn't been naive enough to fall for it in the first place.
