Hi there just noticed this place while browsing possible locations to combine with our usual week in Javea this August and thought El Campello looked nice. Have seen it referred to in a couple of posts on here but thought I'd start a new thread to hopefully get a response. Can anyone tell me which area I need to look at where it has the best sandy beach and where I will be near the promenade with the restaurants and bars as our aim would be to get a tram/train from alicante airport and manage without a car and then hire one to drive up to javea. we would want to rent an apartment with at least 2 bedrooms and large pool preferably with aircon. I've seen a couple that look perfect but need other options as we haven't booked out flights yet and these might get booked up. Are all the beaches nice or are some a bit gritty/stony? thanks for any help. there's not much on tripadviser about this place but I really fancy it. thanks for any help

I've been to El Campello a couple of times. It's a fairly small place so I'm not sure I'd want to spend a whole week there but there are sufficient bars and restaurants to pass the time for a few days.
The location is good, it's about halfway between Alicante and Benidorm (<<shudder>>) on the excellent tram route so it's easy to explore the coast without a car.
The beach is OK but there are much better ones elsewhere on the Costa.
Personally, I tend to stop in Alicante which is one of my favourite Spanish cities. It has a nice central beach and hasn't been spoiled by foreign tourists - they all land at the airport and pile onto buses headed for Benidorm.0 -
thanks for the reply - I was looking forward to visiting Alicante using the tram but thought Campello might be a bit quieter to stay in. We don't need much - just some good restaurants and a nice sandy beach and a big pool. I will have a look at apartments in Alicante itself0

Hi, I came on holiday to Campello in 2004 during the summer, and moved here, lock, stock and barrel in October 2004. That´s how much I liked the place. I´m still here and still of the opinion that I made the right decision.
And therefore, regarding the previous comment "not sure if I would want to spend the whole week there", I have now been here for six and a half years, and still love the place.
In fact, I have a website, dedicated to helping visitors and residents alike to better enjoy their time in Campello. Please feel free to take a look before you book elsewhere.
I´m sure that you´ll have a lovely time. Our town is not Benidorm, nor is it some sleepy fishing village. We strike a balance somewhere inbetween, and being as we are inbetween more vibrant towns and cities, we are ideally placed for exploration.
With apologies for plugging my website, and in order to help you find out more about Campello, please take a look at aboutcampello.com - I will be happy to answer any queries for which you can´t find the answers to therein.
Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great holiday.0 -
yes thanks for that I found a post elsewhere on here with a link to that website. I just need to book my flights so i can start enquiring about apartments. Do you have personal recommendations of particular complexes which are easy walking distance to the beach and also the restaurants with a large communal pool please? We have found one which looks great with views over the sea - can't remember if it said the name of the complex though.0
