eBay Problem

Hi everyone I am hoping for some advice before I do anything else. Thanks in advance.

The story so far.
I sold an item earlier this month and sent it ordinary post. A couple of days ago this person said it hadn't arrived, to which I replied asking if they would check the Post Office sorting office. I then checked feedback and buying history. It turns out he has brought 4 of this item, 1 from 4 different sellers. I contacted the three other sellers. 2 sent the item ordinary post. These he has said haven't arrived and the other was sent tracked. That one, he has said is damaged and wants a refund but to keep the item.

You have no evidence of anything. Refund and use your proof of posting to claim from Royal mail. if you dont he will open a dispute(which will be marked against your seller compliance) and get a refund anyway.

As you say I and the other sellers have no evidence.
  • I would always refund the cost, the onus is on the seller. If the buyer has lots of negative feedback and is clearly trying it on I would consider reporting to eBay.

The buyer has made his feedback private so must have some negative comments he would rather other people do not see.

Buyers can not receive negative feedback.

You could try ringing their local sorting office. and asking about it. For that many parcels to go astray, there must be something up. Then you can politely reply to the buyer asking would he wait a couple of days please, as you have been in contact with Mr XXX at XX Road sorting office, and they are looking into it for you, if however, the package turns up in the meantime, could they please let you know...

We had a problem with a sorting office where items were going missing, cards being opened and vouchers removed, etc, we reported it, they "investigated", and it stopped. But the RM never admit to dodgy workers.

I love it alfiesmum especially the bit about the sorting office looking into it. I probably will end up refunding but at least it may make him squirm a little.
