Once again a housing bull slips up and actually strengthens my argument. By saying 'put your money into a savings account earning a pittance' you are just confirming what I have been saying. Home owners are so complacent from the decade of easy money that they haven't a clue how to actually MAKE money.

Chucknorris shows here that all he imagines, outside of investing in property, is putting money into a savings account. I dare say his pension money is stored in his equity or under his mattress.

Welcome to pensioner poverty, an asset rich and cash poor province of housing bull losers. Idiot.

The bears win again! I have lost count the number of posts that the best of this board have posted (myself, geneer, shortchanged and DervProf) that have put the bulls to the sword. Bears are winning at every turn! :rotfl:

People are simple-minded. Thinking goes something like this...

Duh? Where shall I put my money?

    OPTION A: property

    OPTION B: savings account

Duhhhhrrrr well savings accounts are paying interest rates lower than inflation whereas bricks 'n' mortar is where it's at innit and at least I'll have somefink to show for my moneys duhhhhhhrrrrrrrrr it's obvious isn't it? Stands to reason. Whotchyoutahlkinabhaat house prices go down they NEVAHHHH go daaahn. This is my pension.

If only this HAD actually saved a proper pension. But anyway...

This feeble thinking is quaint but entertaining. It's as if no other investment option exists. But keep your mind closed and the world is nice and simple and delightful isn't it?

I consider this mindset typical of those who find the BBC1 sh1tcom Life of Riley as edgy, imaginative comedy.

    Toodle pip!
Long live the faces of t'wunty.

<Stuff about housing bulls not knowing about investing>

<followed by derogatory remarks about housing bull's investments>

Wow, another basket! The bulls are being savaged all over the board today. I almost feel sorry for them. Almost. Idiots.

Then you are obviously an 'idiot' but the good news is that it's not to late, what you should do is sell your property put all the equity into a savings account earning a pittance and move into a rented bedsit. If you are really lucky your landlord may allow you to have pets and/or hang pictures on the wall.
Well aren't you an intellectual delight. And so charming!

Well you've really thought that through. Considered all the options for your money. Well done you. Are you going to send me an invoice for your time and effort and thinking and BRILLIANT FINANCIAL CONSULTANCY?

I mean if I had £250K and for some obscure (HERETICAL) reason didn't want to load up on annoying bricks and mortar which required maintenance and upkeep and so on to preserve their value, I'd OBVIOUSLY put the dosh into a cr*ppy bog standard High Street savings account paying x% less than the current rate of inflation.

Yeah, I'd be a real IDIOT.

I'm going to try saying this again, just the once.

My house is not an investment, it's my home.

I have other investments that will hopefully see me okay in my retirement, meanwhile, I won't have to worry about finding rent because my loan will be paid off long before I retire.

There. And I would say that sentence will equally come out of someone's mouth who is buying a property right now, in around May 2026.

It's rather obvious who the 'idiot' is, in fact I suspect there is only one person on this forum that is too dumb to realise.

We are a combination of all of them. The attractiveness of 'face', the strength of 'BA', the guile of 'The cigar smoking leader whose name escapes me', the humour of 'Murdock' and the anonymity of 'Charlie'.

Where would you put it then? I'm interested because I have actually got more than that earning crappy interest.
