Was this consumer input thing that has started appearing in peoples logs inspired by an mse thread or article?

Could you post a fresh hijackthis log?

This looked as if its Webview which is a program linked to the Shop and Scan software, you scan your shopping then submit the barcods on a weekly basis. New hijack log above.

Have run the other scans and here's the new Hijack log - are things looking better? Out of curiosity, would you suggest that these are run regularly? I run cookie cleaner (sometimes!) and really rely on windows and AVG (what would you suggest to replace AVG?) and hope for the best - hence why I got hacked I guess!

Thanks for that, I'm guessing the other scans were clean?

The better alternatives to AVG are Avast, and Avira. Probably Avast is better for your cirumstances. Definitely worth doing regular scans with Malwarebytes, it generally finds the things that traditional AVs miss, no need to do the others routinely.

I'd stick on Prevx 3.0 for a week or so, then uninstall it. It'll help make sure nothing else pops up or gets installed. Doesn't remove malware just blocks it install (other than rootkits) but detection is important, should work alongside the av without a hitch:
    http://www.prevx.com/freescan.asp

To help prevent webbased malware, a good method is using Adblock Plus and install "Easy List", then manually install 'Malware Domain' subscription from here: http://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions

Another way is using ClearCloudDNS: http://clearclouddns.com/. Nothing guarantees protection though.

May as well just check this item in Hijackthis and 'fix checked' (or delete it using msconfig):
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EPSON Stylus Photo R300 Series (Copy 1)] C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\E_S4I0F2.EXE /P39 "EPSON Stylus Photo R300 Series (Copy 1)" /O5 "LPT1:" /M "Stylus Photo R300"

This is a general guide on cleaning up infections and speeding up pc's https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2436849

If you haven't all ready done it, Install Malwarebytes and do a FULL (not quick) scan (after updating it), fix anything found before closing, otherwise you'll have to do it all over again. If anything was found reboot the machine before continuing. http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

    __________________________________________________

If you suspect an infection, here are some other virus scanners to try, let them fix anything found

    http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/AVPTool/
    http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro
    http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.exe

    ************************************************

Scanning with all the scanners above along with your resident scanner should remove most or all infections if there are any present on your machine, below is some specific (optional) advice based on your log which may help to improve speed and tidy things up.

Install and run ccleaner (untick the google toolbar during the install). Untick the "windows log files" box, under the system heading before cleaning. Also Tick the java cache tick box under CCleaner, applications, internet to wipe the java cache which sometimes hides infections. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim

Install and run startuplite, accept suggested changes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/StartUpLite.exe

Disable ctfmon - control panel, regional and language options, languages, details, advanced, tick the Turn off advanced text services, ok

Click the java icon in control panel, advanced, misc - untick java quick starter, and untick place icon in task bar

Click the java icon in control panel, updates, untick check for updates

If you want a speedy machine, Use windows firewall and replace your antivirus and security software with avast 6 free - (a fast and lightweight virus scanner with good detection rates) http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download :

This is a list of (or remnants of) security software evident in your log, you may wish to uninstall these in Control Panel (add/remove programs or programs/features) to keep your PC running smoothly, too much overlapping or bloated security or useless tuning software can have a drastic effect on performance - always leave one resident scanner running (eg avast/avira etc)

I would also stop using utorrant, cause thats a real risk as the data you download from 100s of other computers could be virused or a fake file. Downloading copyright material , movies music etc is high risk as virus spreaders target popular items

Malwarebytes shows trojans were removed, which means you may still be infected

    Please run COMBOFIX
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    Shut down your anti virus
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be) ~ if there are loads of 'SNAPSHOT' pages then leave them out

If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download
(If no log comes up or you lose it, COMBOFIX.TXT can be found in C drive)
