    yes of course but what grizzly1911 is talking about is how the switches & the rest of the house are wired. It it may be that they are not both on the same supply and using 1 switch & moving the supply of whatever the other is connected too could overload that circuit potentially.

    Nothing to do with replacing sockets ;)

    I have seen power taken from a socket, via a fused spur to power my (conservatory fittings, heater and lights, via a twin dimmer on the wall.

    All done by an IEE?? professional.

    Have seen all sorts in older properties.
