Linked Credit Report - DH & Ex

Hi,
My DH gave his Ex (when they were together) a card to his account, does this now mean they are financially linked?
Now that we are married I want to make sure that we are only linked to each other financially. I will get him to do the Experian thing to check but wanted an idea first.
Also, do we ahve to do the credit rating thing with Experian and Equifax or is just one of them enough?
