Advice Please - Non-Profit Account and Benefits

Hello
I wondered if anyone could help me please, we are a community group and have decided to go for some grants and will need a bank account to continue.
I am the Chairperson and I have a Treasurer and a Secretary, myself and the Treasurer have started applying for a Non-Profit bank Account and all was going very well.
But the Treasurers Partner is concerned that it may affect their benefits, if the have a credit search in their accounts and are named on the account.
I have explained that it is a Non-Profit account, so no money will come to us, it all goes into the group, so wouldn't affect their benefits, but he doesn't believe me.

So I just wanted to check to see if anyone knew for certain - Will being named as Treasurer on a Non-Profit Bank Account for a Community Group affect your Benefits???
Also would a credit check for a bank affect your benefits??

Thanks in advance for any help :o

Not as far as I know. It is true that if you are named as a director of a limited company that you have to declare this on some benefits forms, but if the ltd company is also a charity then it doesn't affect your benefits.

It might be worth googling 'volunteer' plus your local town / area and see if there is a local volunteer bureau who can give more advice / reassurance.
